Jodi Armstrong Returns Home to Breath New Life into the Norway Bay Golf
Shawville native Jodi Armstrong is returning to her rural roots with partner John Edelman to own and operate Norway Bay’s Astra Estates. Formerly known as Norway Bay Golf Course, Jodi and John plan to use their extensive marketing and business development experience to make their location the premier destination for weddings, events and golf in the Pontiac.
Jodi has spent the last 30 years in Ottawa, working in the high-tech industry. John, originally from Brantford, Ontario has worked in business development in the aerospace industry since retiring from the RCAF, where he was an aerospace engineer. Both had a dream of one day owning their own business, so when the opportunity to purchase the property came, they decided the time was right to make it something of their own.
On November 27th, Astra Estates opened their convenience store on location. Norway Bay has been without a convenience store for a couple of years since Hendersons closed, and the opening was highly anticipated by the residents of the community. As posted by Chrissy Hall on Facebook.“First convenient shopping run in the books at the beautifully renovated store in the former pro shop… friendly service, nice selection and a pup visit with Mr. Jones ‘taboot… So great to have a store in the bay again!!!” The store is open Sunday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:oo p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The nine-hole golf course, designed by world-famous golf course architects Stanley Thompson and Robert Trent Jones will be re-opening in 2022. The 1930’s golf course offers challenging play on “a little piece of history”. Memberships and golf packages are now available for purchase for the upcoming golf season. If you need to perfect your swing, the driving range offers small and large buckets of balls to practice with.
Jodi spent the first part of her career managing special events for companies across North America and Europe. She’ll bring the wealth of that experience to Astra Estates where they will host weddings and private events for up to 200 people. Offering on-site catering services, an outdoor function area, full bar and lounge area, and wedding planning services, Astra Estates promises to be an ideal location for your special day or event.
Also coming soon will be the Astra Café.
