The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux de l’Outaouais (CISSSO) has officially announced the long-awaited replacement of the CT scan machine at the Pontiac Hospital. This significant upgrade is set to commence on March 11, 2024, with an estimated two-month installation period.
Nicole Boucher-Larivière, CISSSO’s Director of local services for the Pontiac, expressed the organization’s excitement about moving forward with the project despite some delays during the acquisition process. “We are pleased to announce the installation of the new CT scanner at the Pontiac Hospital,” said Boucher-Larivière. “While there were some challenges, including parts being on backorder, we are committed to providing the best possible healthcare services to the Pontiac community.”
The installation process will not only involve setting up the new machine but also includes renovations to the room and upgrades to the electrical and ventilation systems. To ensure continuity of service for patients, a mobile CT machine will be installed at the hospital throughout the duration of the installation. This additional measure comes at a cost of approximately $150,000, on top of the $850,000 spent on the scanner itself.
“This new state-of-the-art CT scanner represents a significant investment in the modernization of critical healthcare equipment,” stated Boucher-Larivière. “With an expected lifespan of 10 to 12 years, this machine will allow us to provide better quality care to the Pontiac community and facilitate the work of our technologists.”
The CISSSO’s ongoing commitment to replacing and modernizing critical healthcare equipment underscores its dedication to maintaining high-quality and accessible healthcare services for the residents of Outaouais.
As the installation of the new CT scanner progresses, residents can look forward to improved medical services and enhanced patient care at the Pontiac Hospital.
