Giving Tuesday in the Pontiac

Three Ways to Make a Difference

As the holiday season unfolds across the Pontiac region, Giving Tuesday offers us a moment to pause and consider how we can support our neighbours. This global day of generosity falls on the Tuesday following American Thanksgiving and has become a powerful reminder that our community is strongest when we look out for one another.

This year, we’re highlighting three local organisations that work tirelessly to support families, children, and animals in need across our region.

Bouffe Pontiac: Nourishing Our Community

Food security remains a pressing concern for many families in the Pontiac, and Bouffe Pontiac stands at the frontline of addressing this need. Their mission is to offer anyone in need access to healthy food and information that can improve their quality of life.

Beyond emergency food assistance and their shared grocery store model, they organise collective kitchens, maintain a community garden, and operate a thrift store. The organisation serves the entire Pontiac territory, and no referral is needed—you simply call or visit during operating hours.

How to help: Bouffe Pontiac accepts monetary and food donations.

Animal Aide Pontiac: A Lifeline for Animals in Distress

Animal Aide Pontiac works quietly but effectively to help animals in trouble throughout our region. While not a shelter, this grassroots network connects people with resources and assistance when animals need help most—whether it’s an injured stray, an animal in an unsafe situation, or a pet whose family has fallen on hard times.

Pontiac Angel Tree: Bringing Joy to Children at Christmas

The Pontiac Angel Tree ensures that no child in our region is forgotten during Christmas. This heartfelt community organisation partners with families, volunteers, and local businesses to provide personalised gifts, basic essentials, and a message of love to children and youth who might otherwise go without.

How to help:

  • Sponsor an Angel: Look for paper angels with wish lists at participating locations
  • Make a donation: Your financial gift goes directly to helping a child

The Power of Local Giving

What these three organisations have in common is their deep roots in our community. This Giving Tuesday, consider how you might contribute to their work. Whether you choose one organisation or support all three, your generosity will ripple through our community in meaningful ways.

In the Pontiac, we’ve always known that we’re stronger together. This Giving Tuesday is our chance to prove it once again.
